7/26/2023 0 Comments Battery powered led strip greenThere are two primary types of colored LED strip: fixed single color, and color changing. Colors across the entire visible spectrum are available - violet, blue, green, amber, red - and even ultraviolet or infrared. For these situations, colored LED strips can offer great accent and theatrical lighting effects. Sometimes, you might need a punchy, saturated color effect. LED Strip Color Options: Fixed and Variable Color Need help deciding which color temperature to choose? See our tutorial here.Īdjust the sliders below for a visual demonstration of CRI vs CCT in action. Also look for a light source's R9 value, which provides further information about how red colors are rendered. High CRI LED products offer light that allows objects to appear the way they would under an ideal light source such as a halogen lamp, or natural daylight. Under a low CRI LED strip, colors might appear distorted, washed out, or indistinguishable. The soft glow of a traditional incandescent bulb has a low color temperature (2700K), while the crisp, bright white of natural daylight has a high color temperature (6500K).Ĭolor rendering is a measure of how accurate colors appear under the light source. In describing the different shades and qualities of white, color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI) are two metrics that are important to keep in mind.Ĭolor temperature is a measure of how "warm" or "cool" the light's color appears. Generally, white light is the most useful and popular option for indoor lighting applications. LED strip lights are available in various shades of whites or colors. Learn more about the factors that affect LED strip light longevity. For an LED strip product, it is usually a good sign if the LEDs are not driven at more than 0.2 watts each. A good quality LED strip should be capable of providing 4 watts per foot or more (15 W/meter).įinally, do a quick check to determine if the individual LEDs are being overdriven by dividing the wattage per foot by the LED density per foot. The power draw tells us the amount of power the system will consume, so this is important to determine your electricity costs and power supply requirements (see below). Next, consider an LED strip light's power draw per foot. LED emitters are the most expensive component of LED strip manufacturing, so be sure to account for LED density differences when comparing LED strip prices. A higher density of 36 LEDs per foot (120 LEDs per meter) will typically provide the best, most evenly distributed lighting effect. LED density is important in determining the distance between LEDs (pitch) and whether or not there will be visible hotspots and dark spots between the LED emitters. Do not worry too much about this, as what is most important in an LED strip is the number of LEDs per foot, and the power draw per foot. You may come across various LED emitter names such as 2835, 3528, 5050 or 5730. You will also want to watch out for low cost LED strips that claim high brightness, as they may overdrive the LEDs to the point of premature failure. Light output and efficiency per LED emitterĪn LED strip light without a brightness specification in lumens is a red flag. LED strip brightness is primarily determined by three factors: 4-ft T8 fluorescent = 4-ft of LED strip = 1800 lumens). A good quality LED strip should provide at least 450 lumens per foot (1500 lumens per meter), which provides approximately the same amount of light output per foot as a traditional T8 fluorescent lamp. LED strip brightness is typically described in lumens per foot (or meter). Unlike incandescent bulbs, different LED strips can have different levels of efficiency, so a wattage rating is not always meaningful in determining actual light output. Brightness of LED strips is determined using the metric lumens. 7/26/2023 0 Comments Tao kae noi seaweed ownerOld photographs/drawings of Qing-era Chinese men in Southeast Asia also show that the queue was commonly sported, falling out of favor only after the Qing emperor Puyi cut his off in 1922.īut the product Tao Kae Noi isn’t traditionally Chinese or Thai (despite the packaging, and the availability of flavors like Tom Yum Goong and Mala). Interestingly, it was the shaved forehead that was more objected to at first (historically Chinese men had always kept their hair long anyway, so the queue was just a plaited step away), but for fear of reprisals (execution being the ultimate) most Han men complied with the enforced hairdo. It was imposed upon the subjugated Han by the ruling Manchus during the Qing Dynasty, and the hairstyle consisted of both the queue as well as a shaved forehead. Ironically, the Chinese pigtail or queue was not originally a Han Chinese hairstyle. The link with Chinese identity is why the cartoon character used for TKN’s branding is dressed in Chinese robes with a Chinese pigtail: The Chinese words on the Tao Kae Noi packaging also mean Little Boss (小老板, xiao laoban in hanyu pinyin) but this is more the modern-day Mandarin rendition, using totally different words. The Noi part is a Thai diminutive signifier, and Tob Itthipat was called Little Boss because his father was the (big) boss of a wealthy family business. Tao Kae roughly means (Chinese) Boss, Businessman or Tycoon, and variations of this can be found across Southeast Asia – spelt towkay/taukeh/tauke in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia (although these are more probably borrowed from the closely-related Hokkien dialect) – and reflect immigrant Chinese populations’ prominence in the commerce of the region. The Tao Kae part is a linguistic loan derived from the Chinese words 頭家, pronounced in the Teochew dialect (which is the predominant Chinese dialect group in Thailand, especially around Bangkok – the language is no longer much spoken among the younger generation though). (He’s still relatively young for a billionaire – 37 as at mid-2022.) The words Tao Kae Noi (เถ้าแก่น้อย) roughly translate to Little Boss, and Tao Kae Noi was the nickname of the brand’s Thai-Chinese founder Tob Itthipat Peeradechapan when he was a kid. Tao Kae Noi’s product, branding and history actually reflect this freewheeling multicultural swirl. The welcoming nature of the Thai people as well as the Land of Smiles’ popularity as a travel destination also mean the demographic mixing continues to this day. Historical reach, relative stability (due to military dominance in the region) and economic prosperity attracted many different peoples to the old kingdom of Siam, and the descendants of most who settled there eventually adopted Thai ways, Thai names and Thai culture. And it’s hinted that Dissaya has Middle Eastern (or maybe Indian?) roots (Ep.10 8.05). Meanwhile, the names Pat and Pran are Indic in origin while Ming is a staunch Chinese traditionalist (written up here). And Director Backaof’s late father was given a Catholic funeral (if I remember his Twitter/Instagram postings correctly). Just look at Bad Buddy itself – Nanon is part-Vietnamese, Ohm is Thai-Chinese, Drake is half white American, Love Pattranite is part-Japanese, while Milk Pansa has four ethnicities mixed in (Thai, Mon, Chinese and Danish – see the YouTube video linked here, timestamp 7.06). Below the surface, there are hints of a more heterogenous cultural history. While it’s true that Thai culture and the Thai language are population unifiers in the country, Bad Buddy has made me realize that the situation is more nuanced than I had originally thought. This multicultural snack is also quite the metaphor for intercultural exchange in the 21st century, both in Thailand and on a more global scale.īefore BBS I was used to thinking of Thailand as a cultural monolith, where (almost) everybody is of Thai ethnicity (except for the Malay-dominated southern provinces), similar to the way Japan likes to think of itself. □□ Gonna be on my meal rotation from now on! Recipe linked here if you’re interested.īut TKN nourishes the mind and soul as well as the body (bear with me on this one □). Ncol ( r ) <- 6 hasValues ( r ) # FALSE res ( r ) # 30 18 dim ( r ) # 10 6 1 xmax ( r ) # 0 This follows 3 months ago my 2013 Chevy Tahoe (bought from Chevy dealer in 2015 who sold me on the 172 point check) with 104,000 miles on it requiring a brand new Transmission. They questioned me on whether or not my mechanic was doing the 172 point check when I bring it in to him.like that is the reason the Timing Chain went at 88,0000 miles. He said it would have to go to dealer and we would be looking at a cost of about $3500.00.Īs I research this issue it seems that this is a known issue and I see that the Acadia owners are receiving letters extending their warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles. He sent over links about the issues that are known about this 3.6 L engine with both Acadia and Traverse. He was amazed that it was needed with 88,000 miles. Low and behold check engine light comes on and my mechanic tells me the Codes P0008 and P0017 are due to Timing Chain needing to be replaced. We have 88,000 miles on the vehicle and it has been very well maintained with all of the proper oil changes. We bought the car from them after passing of my father. I have a 2010 Traverse that was purchased brand new by my parents from Chevy dealership. Really pathetic and there should be a lawsuit if GM doesn't come to the table and make this right for its customers. He will never purchase another GM vehicle either after this sickening event. And this comes from the son of a GM retiree of 30 years. I think not! A timing chain failure on a well-maintained car with only 86,000 miles is insane! This is absolutely absurd and GM needs to reimburse or they will never see another dollar from me. They really expect me to believe they corrected this problem for 2010's and it was just a wild coincidence that my timing chain went out at only 86,000 miles. Thanks GM! Come to find out GM reimbursed those with the same issue on 2009 models and claim they "fixed" for 2010 model cars. Surprise $2,500 later out-of my-pocket my Traverse is back on the road. They acted as if they pretty much already new that it was going to be the timing chain since it was a 2010 Traverse. Yes, sure enough the dealer confirmed the timing was stretched and needed replacement. I had feared the worst after looking up the code on the internet - the timing chain. We certainly will be selling this in less than 50k miles.Ĭheck engine light comes on and we took in our immaculate, well maintained Chevrolet Traverse to the local dealer. The new Traverse models look nice and appear to have addressed the early model year issues, but we are not sure we want to take the chance and throw good money after all the bad. Although my wife loves the vehicle and likes the new ones, it will likely be the last Chevrolet we purchase. This was the first time we purchased a Chevrolet vehicle. We decided to just replace the timing belt. This time the dealer recommended installing a new engine at a cost of over $8,000. Although Chevrolet has identified this as a problem, so far they have told us the last two times that it is out of warranty. It appears that Chevrolet recognized this in the 2009-2011 Traverse models and redesigned the engine in 2012. This seems to be a common problem with the 2010 Traverse. The second time it occurred at 113k miles and was not covered and now this one at 150k miles. The first incident occurred at 50k miles and was covered under warranty. Fortunately, we have been able to get it repaired before it caused any major issues. Each time we get a check engine light with the code P0008. This is the THIRD time we have had to replace the timing belt. |
